TWINN2SET: on site seminar by by Dr. Douarche Frederic, Research Engineer in Geosciences at IFPEN
The third and final part of the on-site seminars regarding the European Project, Twinning to Sustainable Energy Transition (TWINN2SET), took place at the Institute of Geoenergy-Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas-(IG/FORTH) in Chania, by the IFP School of IFPEN during 27/03-07/04/2023.
The 6-week seminar was dedicated to the Underground Gas Storage. The courses were conducted by Dr. Douarche Frederic, Research Engineer in Geosciences at IFPEN. The softwares used were Petrel and Eclipse and the methodology of the workshops was the following:
- Select a heterogenous reservoir model slice
- Explain what sensitivity analysis on (permeability anisotropy, relative permeability and permeability heterogeneity)
- Forecast stimulation of long-term CO2 storage
- Upscaling to 3D model
Data from Petrel were used as an input for the third part of the workshops. A specific slice from the reservoir grid was used and sensitivity analysis was conducted with the final step being the data analysis (CO2 dissolution and fluid distribution).
On the 7th of April all the outcomes of the 6-week seminar were presented in three posters, one for each Software Seminar Week (EasyTrace, Petrel & Eclipse).
