Summer school 2025

The 2nd Summer School of the European project TWINN2SET took place hybrid from June 30 to July 4, 2025, successfully hosted by the Institute of Geoenergy in collaboration with the Technical University of Crete. Over the course of five days, participants had the opportunity to attend insightful lectures, visit laboratories, engage in knowledge exchange, and explore developments in geothermal energy, energy transition, and responsible research and innovation aspects. The agenda featured a wide range of topics—from shallow and high enthalpy geothermal systems to regulatory frameworks and real-world applications in Greece and abroad.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all those who joined us on-site and online, distinguished speakers, experts, researchers, stakeholders, and students, for their valuable contributions and active engagement. A special thank you goes to our speakers: Assist. Prof. Dimitris Marinakis (UOWM), Prof. Raoof Gholami (UiS), Dr. Georgios Tsifoutidis (Ministry of Energy and Environment/Geothermal Dept.), Mr. Evangelos Spyridonos (PPC Renewables), Dr. Christos Kanellopoulos (HSGME), Dr. Paschalis Dalampakis (ELGO-DIMITRA), Assoc. Prof. Vasilis Gaganis (NTUA), Assoc. Prof. Kosmas Kavvadias (UniWA), Dr. Christina Cheimonidi (PRAXI Network) and Dr. Christos Chatzichristos (NCSR Demokritos). Their presentations provided both academic depth and practical insight into the geothermal energy landscape in Greece and Europe.

Thanks also to our dedicated FORTH/IG moderators (Dr. E. Stamatakis-Project Coordinator, Dr. S. Bellas-WP4/Research Leader, and Mrs C. Tallarou-PhD Fellow/Assist. Coordinator) who enabled everything to run smoothly and successful during these five days.

We are truly grateful for everyone’s presence and support, and we look forward to welcoming you to the upcoming activities and events of TWINN2SET.
