Dr. Spyridon Bellas (IG/FORTH) at 8th Balkan Energy Summit Conference
Principal researcher of the IG/FORTH Dr. Spyridon Bellas participated as Invited Speaker in the 8th Balkan Energy Summit Conference in Athens (March 1-2nd 2023) organized by IN-VR.
His talk in Session 3 (The time is now: Decarbonising oil and gas sector), titled “Bridging the Low-Carbon Energy Transition and Hydrocarbons Exploration by Geologic Storage: Looking for Potential in Greece” provided a view for the role of the underground storage potential of Greece in respect to the decarbonization and the Net Zero by 2050. Both CO2 and Hydrogen storage discussed as aspects of his talk. Further he re-introduced FORTH/IG as a new pillar of research institute of Greece which may provide its expertize and advisorship to interest governmental and/or private sector parties within the frame of the energy transition.
This presentation is part of the EU project “Twinning to Sustainable Energy Transition (TWINN2SET)” which is implemented as a partnership between the Greek Institute of Geoenergy of the Foundation for Research & Technology – Hellas (IG/FORTH), the Norwegian University of Stavanger (UiS) and the French Research Center IFP Energies Nouvelles (IFPEN).
